Garcia-Davis fight coming?
Ryan Garcia pounded Javier Fortuna as he scored knockdowns in 4th and 5th round before finishing the fight in the sixth round This was complete demolition as Garcia took control of the fight from the opening bell. As the stats show Garcia landed more punches as the fight progressed.
Garcia landed twice the punches and his power was on parade. Now for the big fight that everyone wants to see is, Ryan Garcia and Gervonta “Tank” Davis. This fight was supposed the steppingstone of the fight. Davis won his last two fights against Rolando Romero with a sixth-round stoppage and both fighters are a good draw. Davis sold out Brooklyn Barclays Center and attracted 15,000 in the Crypto.com Arena as local fighter Garcia attracted only little over 11,000.
Davis wants the fight at 135 pounds and Garcia wants the fight at 140 pounds and it does not help that both have different promotes. Davis is promoted by Premier boxing champions and Garci ais with Oscar De La Hoya Golden Boy promotions and of course there is competing networks DAZN and Showtime
There is the split but really Davis is the A star in this since he fills out arena, as he filled out Barclays Center and the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles so Garcia will not get a 50/50 nor does he own a championship but would challenge for one.
Both fighters are explosive punchers with fast hands and do not hurt they both have large following. So, this will be a big event.
The question is that when does the official dance to get both fighters together, but the risk is that if Garcia moves up and loses to one of the 140-pound fighters, this could reduce the value of the fight. There are plenty of fights for Garcia including Josh Taylor, Jack Catterall, and Teofimo Lopez who has moved up to 140 pounds.
Most fans would prefer to see Davis vs Garcia, two young fighters undefeated facing each other. As the Compubox numbers showed, Davis is a good fighter as he dominated Fortuna. Now let see if they can actually fight.
