Thinking the unthinkable by Dr. Larry Fedewa
Nobody likes to think about nuclear war Like the Biden administration, we can pretend that America is safe if we can only secure a new nuclear disarmament treaty with Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. But we do so at our own risk.
The truth about the balance of nuclear power in today’s world is far more dangerous. One of the most respected experts on this topic in the United States is Dr. Peter Pry. His latest essay concerns the Sea-Launched-Cruise-Missile-Nuclear (SLCM-N) and its critical role in any realistic negotiation with our adversaries.
In summary: This technology provides a flexible long-range payload which can be deployed on various platforms including naval (air and space are not discussed) launches and gives America a credible weapon to bring to any disarmament negotiations.
At present, America’s “nuclear umbrella”, which has been the key to our network of alliances since 1948, is neither effective nor credible against the new weapons classes of our potential adversaries.
President Biden is dead set against this technology. The opening paragraph of Dr. Pry’s analysis is below, followed by a link to the full essay.

SLCM-N: Needed for Deterrence, Nonproliferation, and Arms Control
Congress, the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, deserve the gratitude of all Americans for their bipartisan rebuke of the Biden Administration for trying to cancel the Sea-Launched-Cruise-Missile-Nuclear (SLCM-N)—needed to prevent, or prosecute, tactical nuclear war.1
Congress has restored funding for SLCM-N. But President Biden’s still classified Nuclear Posture Review reportedly calls for cancelling the missile, so the Biden Administration may yet try again to kill SLCM-N in the future.
